Project Tinkadin: Tinkerbell's Shield

This was completed last night. It's the shield for Tinkerbell the paladin, fondly known as "Tinkadin". (That was a pun. I hope some of you caught it. :) ) I have to send a big thank you to L, who is responsible for getting the old gem pried out and the new green one wrangled into place. I also want to thank L for sitting with me while we sorted through probably a hundred green oval beads trying to find one that was a) the right size and b) the proper opacity so that it would look good without obviously showing the string column drilled through the center of it.

Materials:

1 plastic doll shield with the original gem removed
1 string of green oval beads
pliers
flathead screwdriver

Project: Tinkadin

What happens when the fairies of Neverland go to war? Probably something like what I've got in mind. This project began when I took a couple of quizzes on Facebook and discovered that my inner Disney princess is Tinkerbell (shudders) and that my inner World of Warcraft class is paladin. So, yeah, while I really do not like Tinkerbell and would prefer to see her squashed by a flyswatter, somehow the idea of putting her in full plate with a shield and a sword and having her call down holy vengence upon evil was oddly appealing. I completely forgot about the idea until a couple of friends decided to send me a Tinkerbell doll as a joke Christmas gift. The friend who handed it to me fully condones me turning Tink into a paladin and has gone so far as to help me, with much hard work, sore fingers, and stabbing of ourselves with screwdrivers, to make Tink's shield. I'll be posting pictures of this up as I complete things. Suggestions and comments are welcome.

Materials I'm planning to use:

1 plastic toy shield, center gem removed
1 strand of flat, oval shaped green beads
1 plastic cocktail sword
1 Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue Pixie Powered doll
1 roll heavy duty aluminum foil
sparkly gold fabric to simulate chain mail
gold paint
copper paint
green paint

Project: Secret Santa 2010

This is a project for Secret Santa at Elftown. My santee liked dragons, so I thought a dragon charm bracelet would be nice.

Materials for this project:

1 copper dragon charm
1 roll 24 gauge copper wire
1 roll 24 gauge copper wire (gold color)
needle nose pliers
1 packet jewelry findings

Progress: Finished. Mailed to Wicked Fae Mage @ Elftown. Hope it fits you!

Welcome

Welcome, weary traveler, to my humble project blog. You, dear reader, are an important, if as yet unaware, part of my creative projects. You see, my problem is that I get some really interesting artsy/craftsy ideas, but unless I have someone who realy wants to see them done, I very rarely finish them. And, that's where you come in. I'm keeping this blog in the hope that those who follow it will nag, push, prod, and poke me to get things done. I'm really rather good with due dates as long as someone is there to enforce them. Plus, you get to comment on the stuff I make. I would ask, however, that criticism be constructive and written plain English. I'm not sure I'm going to improve much if I can't understand what you think I ought to do differently.

And so... onto the projects!
